Discover Self – Improvement through Yoga

Yoga has been taught for thousands of years as a powerful tool for self-improvement allowing people to achieve inner peace, prosperity and happiness.

Today many people come to yoga desiring to improve their physical well-being. Yoga Lessons offers many physical benefits, but the emotional and spiritual benefits are less well known.

For regular yoga practitioners, the additional benefits are obvious and abundant and influence every aspect of the practitioner’s life. The first thing I usually hear from new students of yoga is that they quite simply feel better in every possible way, discovering their potential for self-improvement physically, mentally, emotionally as well as spiritually.

The asanas, or yoga postures, when practised in a certain way, not only tone the muscles, increase flexibility and improve the posture through alignment, but they also have a profound impact on the endocrine glands, balancing the secretion of hormones and restoring psychic and emotional well-being.

Great emotional and physical benefits are also achieved by practising deep relaxation. Relaxation, similar to the hibernation response in animals, can be achieved through guided relaxation, while relaxing each and every limb of the body and internal organs. People who practise deep relaxation on a regular basis, sleep much more soundly, and therefore need fewer hours of sleep. Deep relaxation is also a massive stress buster, a common problem these days, and helps to lower blood pressure.
